Members in the capital Male should monitor developments and avoid all gatherings organised by supporters of Qasim Ibrahim, a leader of the opposition Jumhooree Party (JP). Ibrahim was arrested on 6 April on charges of attempting to overthrow the government; he will remain in detention until at least 12 April. His supporters have held intermittent gatherings near theCriminal Court, where Ibrahim had been brought for questioning, and near the JP office, prompting the authorities to deploy additional police and erect roadblocks in front of the two buildings.
